NOW HIRING – Bookkeeper
Motl Accounting, LLC is growing again! We’re a boutique accounting firm that partners with small businesses to deliver expert bookkeeping, payroll, and income tax services—but with a twist: we don’t pay bills or cut checks. We act as historians, accurately documenting what already happened so business owners can make smarter decisions moving forward.
What You’ll Do:
As a bookkeeper at Motl Accounting, you’ll manage a portfolio of 40–60 small business clients. You’ll gather client bank and credit card statements, reconcile transactions, categorize income and expenses, and prepare clear, accurate financial reports—typically working one month in arrears (e.g., reconciling November in December).
You’ll collaborate with a small team of like-minded bookkeepers, but manage your own dedicated client accounts where you’ll be expected to:
- Communicate directly with clients
- Apply independent judgment to categorize and interpret transactions
- File sales tax returns when applicable
- Issue timely and clean financials each month
We’re not micro-managers. We do carefully monitor production to ensure the client does not get too far behind on reporting, otherwise you are left to work and are trusted to communicate with the client and follow the system to be able to issue a set of timely financials every month.
We will train the right person, but the position does require the right type of personality and ability to adapt, conceptualize and apply what you learned from one account, to the next.

What We’re Looking For:
We’ll train the right person, but you need to bring:
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Comfort working with a high volume of client accounts
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills and reliability
- Bachelor’s degree OR prior accounting/bookkeeping experience
- Working knowledge of accounting principles
