Our founder, Chuck Motl started the firm offering comprehensive Elgin accountant services including tax preparation, accounting, and bookkeeping services.
After completing acquisitions of other accounting practices in 1983 and 1988, the firm sought out larger quarters and relocated to West Dundee.
Expanding once again, the firm purchased and renovated an historic building in East Dundee. We trust this building will serve our needs for years to come.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Chuck founded the firm in 1980 to serve the bookkeeping & tax needs of small businesses. He has been providing tax services and preparing returns since 1971. He is our resident tax expert and is extremely knowledgeable. He has been married to Darlene since 1973 and they have thoroughly enjoyed raising four sons. In addition to spending time with his family, Chuck enjoys fast cars, baseball & Scrabble.
Brent is a graduate of Augustana College and has an extensive background in corporate accounting having worked at Fortune 500 companies including AT&T and Orbitz, as well as Hometown America. Brent later joined his father and brother at Motl Accounting where he became active in the Professional Association of Small Business Accountants (PASBA) which has played a valuable role in his professional life and practice. Brent is a co-owner of the firm and manages the operations of the firm. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and volunteers on the boards of the Sam Bell Memorial Foundation, Dundee Crown Hall of Fame and Barrington Young Professionals.
Melinda E. Anderson, EA
Director Intercontinental Income Taxes
Melinda is highly specialized in foreign and domestic taxes and trust income tax returns for individuals and businesses. Prior to Motl Accounting, she worked for the Internal Revenue Service and then with All American Tax Services for over ten years. This exclusive background has given her a wide breadth of knowledge in which she uses to assist clients. Melinda studied Biochemistry at the University of Utah with an emphasis on Science & Mathematics, her hobbies include horseback riding, weight training, hiking, and gardening. She is proud to be on the Board of Directors and tax accountant for Friends of the Fox River, a non-profit organization that preserves, restores and protects the Fox River Watershed in Illinois by connecting people with nature.
Blair joined the firm as a manager after working at CPA firms in Illinois and Colorado. His career in accounting and taxes began in 1997 when he completed the H&R Block tax class at age 17. Blair oversees Payroll Vault, the award winning payroll department of the firm that provides cutting edge payroll services to small and medium sized businesses. His life is quite the study in contrasts as he spends his free time on construction projects and metal sculpture.
After graduating from Augustana College with a double major in Accounting and Business Management, Blake joined Sallie Mae as a General Ledger Accountant. From there, he has had experiences ranging from being the Controller of an asset recovery company to performing consulting, analytics and budgeting needs for companies of all sizes. He has a great knowledge of the impacts of day-to-day activity on a company’s financial statements and has the ability to strategically plan for year-end. He is a great asset to the Accounting team. When Blake isn’t busy with his 2 kids, he enjoys boating on Fox Lake with his family, woodworking and doing small construction projects around the house. He started collecting Bourbons in 2019 and is always on the hunt for new bottles to add to his collection.
Our knowledgeable Bookkeepers at Motl Accounting handle reconciliation of bank accounts and loans in addition to reviewing monthly expenses, paying monthly sales tax, and payroll taxes for our clients. They prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends.
Gloria has been a production bookkeeper assisting Chuck since 1984 and now has the pleasure of working with his sons. Before joining Chuck, Gloria worked for three other Illinois CPA firms. Many of her clients have become old friends through the years. She finds satisfaction providing them with accurate and timely tax returns and monthly financial statements so they can have peace of mind. In her free time, Gloria enjoys reading, antiquing, taking walks and attending concerts, plays and movies.
Aaron worked for five years at another local accounting firm before joining Motl Accounting in early 2022. He earned Associates Degrees in Science and Accounting from Elgin Community College and used both to become a certified user of QuickBooks Online. Aaron hopes to continue increasing his knowledge and experience to better help clients with their accounting needs. During his free time, Aaron enjoys hiking, leatherwork and board games.
Lisa is a bookkeeper and has been with the firm since 2011. She has a Bachelors in Psychology from University of Illinois. Her accounting experience, quick thinking and ability to link thoughts and concepts from one client or process to is a great asset to Motl Accounting.
Shellye graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts. She has been with Motl Accounting since 2018 and recently shifted positions to Sales Manager. Shellye’s experience and vision is a great asset to our team. In her free time, she enjoys spending time boating and golfing with her husband, Matthew and three kids, Pennye, Sebastian, and Brinkley.
After obtaining her Bachelors and Masters degree in Accounting, Erin started her career as an Accounting Specialist for an international company. However, when she had the opportunity to stay home with her daughters, she took it and enjoyed every minute of it. During that time, she helped her husband start his own business – doing all of the administrative and bookkeeping work herself and still does. Erin is excited to be returning to the working world now that her girls are older. Her vast knowledge and experience in accounting and administration has helped her to truly understand our client’s needs. Erin enjoys the outdoors and camping with her family. In her free time, she likes crocheting, reading, doing crafts with her daughters and watching their little minds grow.
Stephanie worked at a credit union before joining Motl Accounting in 2022. She completed her Associates in Science and is now continuing her education to get her Bachelors in Accounting. With experience in the finance and retail industry, she understands the importance of strong client relationships and looks forward to helping businesses grow and succeed. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys playing computer games with her husband and two children and visiting with family on the weekends.
James came to Motl Accounting after running his own firm for over 10 years. Having proudly saved clients hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes, penalties, and interest, he has quite the passion for helping his clients succeed! In his role as manager at Motl Accounting, James delivers exceptional service by offering comprehensive accounting solutions and navigating complex tax issues. His meticulous attention to detail and deep understanding of IRS procedures enables him to develop effective strategies for resolving tax disputes, audits, appeals, and collections on behalf of his clients. James received an Entrepreneurial Excellence Award by the Daily Herald for Outstanding Service to Entrepreneurs in 2017.

Tom Venturini is a highly experienced sales and marketing professional who joined Payroll Vault in 2020. After a decade in sports marketing serving in the role of new business development and public relations, Tom now brings his energy, along with experience and knowledge to the Payroll Service industry. Focused on building and retaining long-lasting B-to-B relationships, his dynamic personality and focus allow him to create a positive customer service experience. Tom is an avid photographer and enjoys traveling the world and spending time with family and friends. He loves music and doesn’t pass up a night out to see his favorite bands in concert!
Manisha Rajyaguru is our Payroll Processor and joined Payroll Vault in October 2021. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has worked in the HR/payroll field for 10+ years. Manisha has worked with a variety of payroll systems, predominantly ADP Workforce Now and iSolved. She is proficient in full cycle recruiting, employee relations, and benefit management. Manisha enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her husband and two little kids!
Maria joined the Payroll Vault team in 2021. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and obtained a professional certificate in graduate accounting in 2020. Her passion for business taxes, research and data mining really allows her to truly understand our clients and their business. Maria enjoys spending time with family and friends.
