Chuck founded the firm in 1980 to serve the bookkeeping & tax needs of small businesses. He has been preparing tax returns since 1971 and is our resident tax expert. Chuck has been married to Darlene since 1973 and they have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of raising four sons. In addition to his family, Chuck enjoys fast cars, baseball & Scrabble.

Chuck Motl


After graduating from Augustana College in 2000, Brent worked in corporate accounting for Fortune 500 companies including AT&T and Orbitz, as well as Hometown America. In 2006, Brent joined his father and brother at Motl Accounting, where he first became active in PASBA. Since then, he has developed his role as manager and PASBA continues to play a valuable role in his professional life and practice. This year he welcomes new responsibilities as co-owner of the business. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and volunteers as a tutor for under-privileged youth at the Midtown Educational Center in Chicago.

Brent Motl


Blair joined the firm as a manager in 2005 after working for two other CPA firms in Illinois and Colorado. His tax career began in 1997 when he completed the H&R Block tax class at age 17. His life is quite the study in contrasts as he spends his free time on construction projects and metal sculpture.

After graduating from Augustana College in 2005 with a double major in Accounting and Business Management, Blake joined Sallie Mae as a General Ledger Accountant. From there, he has had experiences ranging from being the Controller of an asset recovery company to performing consulting, analytics and budgeting needs for companies of all sizes. He has a great knowledge of the impacts of day-to-day activity on a company’s financial statements and has the ability to strategically plan for year-end. He is a great addition to the Accounting team.

Blake Motl


Gloria has been a production bookkeeper for Chuck since 1984 and now has the pleasure of working with his two sons, Blair and Brent. Before joining Chuck, Gloria worked for two other Illinois CPA firms. Many of her clients have become old friends through the years. She finds satisfaction providing them with accurate and timely tax returns and monthly financial statements so they can have the time to do what they enjoy.

Dawne has been a production bookkeeper with us since October, 2000. She loves to keep her clients work clean and well organized. When she’s not winning call-in radio contests, she spends her time with her husband and new daughter born in 2009. Her guilty pleasures are reality TV and People magazine.

Eva Tipps followed in the footsteps of her daughter, Lisa, by joining the firm as a production bookkeeper in 2012. Eva loves to reconcile accounts and provide accurate financials. She has worked for The Duchossois Group and Elgin Children’s Chorus and is still a part-time House Manager for Elgin Community College’s Visual and Performing Arts Center.
